Safeguarding

A safe, caring and welcoming community for every child.

“Let the little children come to me.” (Matthew 19:14)

A Catholic school and a Catholic parish must be a safe, caring and welcoming community in which every child and every adult is treated with dignity and respect. Safeguarding is an essential expression of our Christian mission, and the responsibility of every member of the community — school authorities, priests and religious, teachers, staff, parents, volunteers and pupils.

Our commitment is a simple one: SEE signs of harm. SPEAK when something is wrong. SAFEGUARD every child and vulnerable person entrusted to our care.

Corporal punishment, public humiliation, bullying and harassment of any kind are prohibited. Every safeguarding concern must be taken seriously and reported promptly, and anyone who raises a concern in good faith is protected from intimidation.
